Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Lynx winger, David Jones, and prop forward, Steve Taylor, both scored tries for the English Second Division champions, while their stand-off, Phil Jones, kicked one goal.
Villeneuve's Australian player-coach, Grant Doorey, the former Keighley forward, was one of their three try-scorers.
The former Great Britain player, Roger Millward, was named Lion of the Year yester-day.
The former Hull KR favou-rite was honoured at the British Lions annual luncheon in Manchester by being named first winner of the Tom Mitchell Trophy, awarded in memory of the former RFL chairman and tour manager who passed away in September.
Millward, who was awarded the MBE in 1983, toured Australia and New Zealand in 1970, 1974 and 1979 and played in three World Cup competitions Down Under.
Ray French, chairman of the British Lions Association, said: "There can be no more worthy first winner of the trophy than Roger, who set standards for all future Lions."
For his part, Millward said: "To be singled out ahead of so many other famous Lions is quite an honour. I was proud to wear the Great Britain jersey on tour and am delighted to receive this award."
