Stains was appointed head coach last month, ahead of Kiss, who had been the hot tip to succeed Tony Currie. But now Stains has decided that he wants the former Test winger and North Sydney reserve grade coach as his No 2. The pair are due to arrive tomorrow and will meet the players for the first time on Friday, before pre-season training begins next week.
"They are looking forward to working together," said the Broncos' chief executive, Tony Rea. "Apart from his reserve grade side, Les has done good work with the youth development at Norths and will be applying that here."
Kiss and London's other assistant, Dave Evans, will fill the void left by the retirement of Bev Risman as development director, while Glen Workman, who helped New Zealand in their recent Test series, is leaving the Broncos' coaching staff to join Gateshead Thunder.
London have failed in their efforts to sign the Sheffield Eagles' transfer- listed Great Britain prop, Paul Broadbent. "Sheffield have told us that our offer isn't enough," said Rea.
Widnes have signed Lokeni Savelio, the Western Samoan forward released by Salford.
Oldham have re-signed two of their former players - the centre, Afi Leuila, who has been playing rugby union for Fylde, and the prop forward, Leo Casey, from Rochdale Hornets - for next season.
