Rugby League: Castleford's rally offers consolation

Castleford staged a second-half rally to beat Oldham, 30-20, and make amends for their one-point Super League defeat at Wigan last week.

Castleford looked in trouble when they trailed 16-4 at half-time, but hit Oldham with five second-half tries to halt their opponents' march towards the top four. Oldham, with the home advantage, scored three first- half tries through Howard Hill, Scott Ranson and Paul Atcheson to deservedly be ahead at the break.

Castleford turned the corner thanks to an inspirational display up front from their Kiwi hooker Brendan Tuuta. Tony Smith sped in before Simon Middleton picked up a stray Oldham pass to race 50 yards and cross in the corner. Oldham went 20-12 up, but Castleford finished with three late tries, by Adrian Flynn, Chris Smith and the substitute Junior Paramore.

Workington look favourites for the drop after Warrington scored nine- tries in a 49-4 away drubbing.
