From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Even without Allan Langer and with the brilliant Test full-back Darren Lockyer going off early, the dominant team in Australian Super League had far too much class. Steve Renouf led the way with a club-record five tries as the Broncos left London's match with Cronulla today as Britain's last chance to get a side into the semis.
Shane Webcke started the rout in front of a sparse crowd at the ANZ Stadium, going over for the first try after two minutes. Renouf and Gorden Tallis - another player Saints simply could not handle - then alternated tries, with Tallis getting two and Renouf completing a hat-trick before half-time.
It was no better for Saints after the break, with Renouf, Webcke and Andrew Gee going in before Anthony Mundine claimed two in quick succession. The English Cup holders at least the minor satisfaction of finishing with a small flourish, scoring their two tries in the last 10 minutes. Ian Pickavance, Karle Hammond and Paul Anderson did well to keep the ball alive for the substitute, Simon Booth, to go over and, with two minutes to play, the teenaged winger, Tony Stewart, beat Wendell Sailor superbly to set up Alan Hunte.
