From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

LONDON BRONCOS yesterday produced their most convincing performance of the season to beat Salford Reds 21-12 and earn only their third Super League win this term.

The Broncos never looked back after moving into a 14-0 lead after just 17 minutes. Despite a superb individual performance from Martin Crompton, Salford looked second best.

The Broncos shrugged off the early loss of Martin Offiah, who was stretchered off after 10 minutes with a badly sprained ankle but by then the home side already led 2-0 through a Terry Matterson penalty. A minute later they went further in front with the first try of the game. Peter Gill was held up inches from the line before Damien Chapman darted over to score under the post.

Matterson converted and the Broncos stretched their advantage further after 17 minutes. Steele Retchless found Darren Higgins in support, the substitute just having the pace to make the line.

Crompton was on the end of an excellent four-man move for the Reds' first try and he added a conversion and a penalty to make the half-time score 14-8.

Robbie Beazley was put clear by Chapman for the Broncos' third try after an excellent break by Chris Ryan and Tulsen Tollett down the left wing.

Salford produced the try of the match after an hour, Scott Martin sprinting 60 yards down the right touchline. However, the Reds never looked like getting back on terms, Chapman adding a drop goal after 66 minutes to complete the victory.
