What passes for my tips are at least a service in that you'll be able to say, "He's off his head, that can't win". In the Champion Hurdle on Tuesday, try Eddie O'Grady's Catch Me, each-way, at 20-1 (Ladbrokes). The six-year-old finished a decent third in last year's Ballymore Properties Hurdle (over 2m 5f). There is also a piece of form where he finished nine lengths ahead of the favourite Sizing Europe. And his last win, over 2m at Gowran Park, looked good.
On Wednesday, Paul Nicholls will probably run Master Minded and Twist Magic in the Champion Chase. Preference is for the latter.
In the World Hurdle, Inglis Drever has beaten most of those behind him in the betting. But Kazal, each way at 20-1 (generally), is an unknown quantity. After a brilliant novice season, he's found it tougher, but his win over 2m 5f at Navan last month gives us hope he'll stay three miles, as he did once as a baby.
Finally, to the Kauto Star/Denman Gold Cup debate – it should be a fantastic race, but with the forecasters suggesting foul weather, Denman's tank-like stamina could be decisive. Take any 13-8 now.
Last week's wagers
The first Test between New Zealand and England looks to be heading for a draw to judge by England's turgid rearguard action on the third day. But the Black Caps' spinners Vettori and Patel may toss the money our way.
