Stan Hey: 6-5 Against
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Which is more irritating – the mass drone of the vuvuzela or the forlorn cries of 'C'mon Andy!'?
You can judge next week as Wimbledon steps up to try and prise the nation's attention off the World Cup. Will the big screen on Murray Mount show England against Slovenia next Wednesday if the Scot is on court?
In truth, the two sporting constituencies are pretty clearly divided and you won't see many England shirts in the Wimbledon crowd, or indeed an English player in the men's singles.
Punters usually restrict themselves to a few Wimbledon bets as the early rounds are likely to be as routine as those at the World Cup. Barring injuries, Roger Federer will play Rafael Nadal in the men's final while the women's could easily be another Williams sisters' duopoly.
I favour Nadal (£20 win, 9-4 Ladbrokes) and Serena (£20 win, 9-4 Victor Chandler) to bag the titles, but will also have £5 each-way on the young Croat, Marin Cilic (40-1, William Hill) who reached the semis of the Australian Open this year, and the hard-hitting Dane, Caroline Wozniacki (25-1 Ladbrokes), the junior champion at Wimbledon four years ago. She was born just three days after Italia '90, which links us cheesily to the match of the weekend, Brazil v Ivory Coast. The draw appeals – £10 at 14-5, Boylesports.
*England's draw with the USA paid £33-33 while Canford Cliffs' win at Ascot added £27-50 to the summer betting fund. Hands off, Mr Osborne.
