Sanders hits back with 540-1 treble at Lingfield

Seb Sanders reopened the race for the jockeys' title with a treble from only four mounts at Lingfield yesterday at odds of 540-1.

Sanders had slipped to eight winners behind Jamie Spencer after being suspended for the first two days of the week, but closed the gap to five at the Surrey track. The championship will be decided on Saturday week.

At Punchestown, Nina Carberry and Paddy Kennedy came out worst in a five-horse pile-up in the closing bumper. Carberry sustained a fractured collarbone, while Kennedy, a 7lb claiming rider, has a fracture of the left leg.

Kennedy, riding Superior Ben, was in midfield when his horse slipped up, bringing down Tara Valley, Lady Alimentary, Physical Features and Carberry's mount, Northern Command.
