Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Tomorrow's Blackmore and Sparkford Vale meeting at Charlton Horethorne

in Somerset is the venue where Nevada Royale, one-time favourite for the SunAlliance Chase, put up a spectacular performance last March to win by two fences from his nearest rival.

It is unlikely that there will be anything of his calibre in this year's race but Alfie Sherrin (2.25) definitely looks to have the potential to make the grade under Rules.

Last year's champion rider James Tudor has a narrow (14-13) lead over Oliver Greenall in this year's table and could extend his advantage today at Kingston Blount – an undulating course which takes a bit of knowing and where he has ridden 22 winners. He partners course specialist Mr Splodge (1.05) who had a season under Rules last year and has the opportunity to make a winning return to pointing in what looks a substandard men's open. Tudor could complete a double on last year's winner Gillie's Nephew (3.25) in the club members.
