Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Cheltenham Festival’s showpiece event, the Gold Cup has recently been no place for market leaders, with only one SP favourite winning in the last five years.
Native River marginally won the 2018 race ahead of favourite Might Bite in an epic contest last year at 5/1.
The race pits the best horses in National Hunt racing against each other and is the one that everyone wants to win.
This year’s field is relatively open, with Native River once again leading the betting for trainer Colin Tizzard. There are many horses that you could make a claim for, but why not let your personality decide who to back?
Are you a risk taker, here for the betting or fashion and is the jockey’s colours something you look for? Use our Gold Cup generator courtesy of BetVictor to find out which horse you should be backing based on your personality.
Follow the Cheltenham Gold Cup live with The Independent as we bring you the entire programme on the fourth and final day at the Festival.
