Racing: Warwick the King maker
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.A TOTAL of 33 horses have been entered for Saturday's Warwick National, including four from the Somerset yard of Martin Pipe - Chatam, Cushinstown, King's Curate and Riverside Boy.
Pipe is keen to take the wraps off former top-class staying hurdler King's Curate, sidelined since April, 1992. The gelding, formerly trained by Stan Mellor, is also entered for the First National Chase at Ascot on Friday.
'It is impossible to finalise plans at present and anyway Martin will want to sit down and scan the entries properly,' a spokeswoman for Pipe said yesterday.
Last Saturday, Warwick was the only course in Britain able to stage racing on turf. Yesterday the clerk of the course, Peter McNeile, reported no problems for next weekend.
Into The Red, John White's Grand National candidate, is among the Warwick National entries, as is David Nicholson's Moorcroft Boy.
