Shortest-priced loser: Coralette, a heavily backed 4-9 shot at Chepstow. Two other odds-on favourites were beaten on the same card.

Worst Tote odds: Kings Cherry (SP 10-1) and Pete The Parson (SP 11-2) each won three-horse races at Chepstow, but followers of the outsider- of-three maxim were disappointed with Tote dividends of pounds 5.50 and pounds 3.90 respectively.

Jockey: Seb Sanders ''rode a blinder'', according to trainer Kevin McAuliffe, when persuading the six-year-old mare Newington Butts, running for the 30th time, to win her first ever race at Lingfield on Thursday.

Trainer: Senior jockey Graham McCourt gained his first success as a trainer when partnering Lance Armstrong to victory at Windsor on Saturday. "Its a lovely feeling," said McCourt whose delight was only partly dented when stewards imposed a two-day riding ban for using his whip with unreasonable frequency.

Horse: The Grey Monk stretched his unbeaten record over fences to four when barely coming out of an exercise canter to justify odds of 1-5 in a novice chase at Newcastle on Saturday. The eight-year-old may turn out again on Friday or Saturday.
