Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

ROYAL ASCOT

2.30: David Loder has let it be known he strongly fancies Maid For Walking, a factor in his filly being made a 3-1 favourite in the morning lists. The stable has a good recent strike-rate, so the trainer's confidence is hard to question. However, the short odds means better value could be found elsewhere. TOP PEARL proved herself a speedy sort last time out and could be up to this class.

3.05: BLUSH RAMBLER is on the small side but elevated his status with a fine third in the Coronation Cup at Epsom two weeks ago. That was a high-class event and today a first success since his two-year-old days can be expected. The main threat could come from a filly who finished only 12th in the Coronation Cup. However, Royal Ballerina's poor run there can be forgiven. This high-quality challenger from Ireland will be a different proposition on this track.

3.45: With 30 runners spread across the course a middle-to-high draw may be an advantage, particular as several of the most fancied contenders are berthed between 15 and 23. The favourite, Double Blue may try to dominate but could set the race up for the improving ALASIB, for whom the booking of Michael Kinane looks significant. Everglades is another that looks to have been campaigned with this race in mind, while Allthruthenight represents some value at 40-1 with Coral (only 25-1 Ladbrokes).

4.20: With most of the runners having been regularly trounced by the odds- on favourite LOCHSONG this adds up to a spectacle rather than a betting heat. Miss Sacha is at least fresh to the sprinting game and is the most interesting of her opponents.
