one of point-to-pointing's strengths and one-time staying handicap chaser Moor Lane will revive a few memories when he reverts to his grass roots in the men's open (1.10)at Tweseldown tomorrow.
Almost 23 years ago his owner-trainer, Ian Balding, rode an unraced 12- year-old called Ross Poldark to win a similar event at the Hampshire course.
Moor Lane has rather more miles on the clock, having won twice between the flags in the north as a youngster before he joined Balding. However, the former royal trainer will miss the race as he is on holiday in South Africa. Moor Lane will be saddled by his son, Andrew, and ridden by Reading University student Andrew Braithwaite.
Somerset trainer Ollie Jackson, who won with her first runner last month after taking over from David Pipe, has a busy weekend as she runs Polar Champ (12.35), Moonshine Surprise (1.45), Student Night (3.30) and Love Fool (4.50) at Wadebridge today and Ballysicyos (12.0) and Merrimac (4.50) at Chipley Park tomorrow.
