Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

"Dancing Brave had a wonderful temperament and was a beautiful mover - in every way a fantastic horse to ride. Horses like him come along only once in a lifetime. The field he beat in the Arc was wonderful and he killed them. I sat on the tail of Bering and then zoomed past. He passed 11 horses in the last furlong," Pat Eddery, jockey.

"Prince Khalid considered him to be his outstanding horse. Memories of his explosive burst of acceleration in the last two furlongs of the Arc remain vivid." Khalid Abdullah, owner, through his racing manager.

"The Derby was one of those ridiculous races. Greville decided to sit in on the horse but between the seventh and eight furlongs they threw in a 17-second furlong - when the average is 13. That had a concertina effect which made it difficult to make up ground. He flew at the finish and was clearly a better horse than Shahrastani and the rest." Guy Harwood, trainer.
