Today's softer ground should suit him even better and there are no doubts about his stamina, unlike Finger Of Light, Mr Martini and Risk Master, who are all stepping up in distance.
Magic Junction has yet to reproduce his all-weather form on turf.
1.50: HIWAYA won some soft races before taking a Listed event at Newmarket, a victory which has been franked by the decisive success of the runner-up, Germane, in the Rockfel Stakes. That form suggests the selection has several pounds in hand of Louis' Queen on a line through Fleet Hill, narrowly beaten by John Dunlop's filly in an Italian Listed contest. Lochsong's half-sister Dashing Water will have her stamina stretched in these conditions.
2.20: The progressive Sadler's Image may well be ready for Group success, after failures in this grade earlier in the year, and should confirm Newmarket placings with Strategic Choice on 3lb better terms. But his stable has suffered its share of reverses in this race in recent years, most notably with Opera House and Zinaad, and he could be vulnerable if David Loder has rejuvenated new charge SHREWD IDEA.
DONCASTER 3.10: CHALDON HERRING landed some concerted gambles before running an unlucky third to In Good Faith at York and then finishing eighth in a big Newmarket nursery on going livelier than ideal. The easier surface should favour him, at the expense of the well- treated Blaze Of Song.
3.40: CELTIC SWING had been rumoured to be something special since his debut Ayr win (Chilly Billy among the victims) and his commanding Ascot victory, and the time recorded there, confirmed this. Those looking for a longer- priced alternative should think twice before accepting offers about Don Corleone, who disappointed on yielding ground at Kempton when behind Annus Mirabilis. Michael Stoute's colt has been most progressive since his debut fourth there. He will benefit from stepping up to a mile and won on soft ground at Yarmouth.
4.15: PAINTED MADAM returns to listed company, in which she has been placed three times, after a very easy win last weekend. She, with Overbrook, is favoured by today's weights.
4.45: West Buoyant's second at Ascot a fortnight ago was solid form particularly as the winner, Blushing Flame, is strongly fancied for next weekend's November Handicap. However, he may not hold the lightly raced UNCLE OSWALD. This colt has been dropped 2lb in the handicap since finishing fifth to Acting Brave at Newmarket.
