2.35: SAXON MAID, a typical late-maturing filly from Luca Cumani's stable, is developing into a smart middle distance handicapper and holds a major chance, particularly if ridden with the same sort of enterprise which saw her beat The Flying Phantom over course and distance last month. Burooj rates a danger, but David Morley's colt has traditionally gone best when fresh, and may be unable to reproduce his best form today.
3.10: The form figures in front of NAFTA's name make his chances appear bleak. He has consequently been let in here on a low weight, therefore, Barry Hill's colt having been dropped 4lb since a respectable eighth behind prolific winner Sumoquinn on this course 13 days ago. He can be expected to put up a bold show this afternoon. His draw in the centre of the track seems preferable to the low number allotted to potential danger Nuremburg.
3.40: Soviet Line attempts his fourth consecutive win and will be hard to stop. He could be called the winner some way out when achieving his hat- trick at Goodwood and will make things difficult for FIRST TRUMP, still without a visit to a winner's enclosure this season. Geoff Wragg has never lost faith in this three-year-old, however, and the colt may prove to be classier than these rivals today.
4.15: PANIKIN picks up a penalty for his Haydock victory last week but the grey took that race with a bit in hand and the 6lb extra may not stop him, particularly with Michael Kinane taking the ride. Saseedo likes this track and looks a dangerous outsider.
REDCAR
2.50: Crystal Cavern pulled conspicuously hard before back-pedalling two furlongs out on her Kempton debut last month. Roger Charlton's filly must become more amenable to restraint if she is to fulfil home potential on the racecourse, and Warren Place newcomer DIVINE PURSUIT gets the nod. Entered for several Group One contests earlier this autumn, she reportedly carries stable confidence today.
3.20: Miss Plum has a major chance if recapturing her best form, but the sensible money will pour on CANZONET. Denied a recent winning opportunity here by an afternoon abandonment, this handily-weighted sort is sure to relish the stamina test offered by Redcar's galloping track and rain softened surface. Last season's Northumberland Plate hero Highflying remains chronically out-of- form.
3.55: Princely Hush possesses a touch of class, but preference is for Newbury winner BRIEF GLIMPSE. Perhaps this speedy filly was still feeling the effects of those exertions when fourth to Harayir in York's Lowther Stakes, but that nonetheless represents rock- solid juvenile form. In Good Faith could make the frame at decent odds.
