Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

3.15: SADLER'S IMAGE, third to Broadway Flyer in the Chester Vase, looks a class above his rivals here. With an unusually small field for an event of this type and with some of the best lady amateurs engaged, this could turn into an interesting tactical test which the favourite should win.
3.45: Much has been made of Tabook's potential to reach Group-race standard but ONE ON ONE, a 7-1 chance at morning odds with William Hill, almost certainly has a lot more to show. He was just two lengths behind Tabook at Newmarket last time, and with the favourite penalised for that success, places may be reversed. The progressive and consistent Roving Minstrel also makes some appeal at the 16-1 offered by Coral (only 11-1 with William Hill). Close To Reality (9-1 with Coral) also merits respect, but his habit of making his effort late - a trait shared by many in his stable - will not help his chance in this competitive race in which several are likely to be in contention close home.
4.15: Athene showed much improved form at Goodwood last time, but the bookmakers noticed her success as well and she is as short as 9-2 with Coral and William Hill (11-2 Ladbrokes) in early prices for this race. Conversely, BRANDON COURT, who has arguably achieved most of any of these with impressive wins at Haydock and Sandown, seems overpriced at 10-1 with Ladbrokes and William Hill. Moving Arrow was given very tender handling when making his reappearance and is likely to be more of a force here.
4.45: Recent form is usually the best guide and TALENTED TING, who hacked up in a big field at Hamilton on Thursday, looks capable of going in again here. Lester Piggott takes over from Jason Weaver on the gelding from the shrewd Patrick Haslam stable who is generally 5-1 in morning betting. Brandonhurst, a 7-1 chance that is just running into form, looks the danger.
