2.35: KING OF NAPLES can see off rivals whose form has been mainly recorded in Italy, Suris, Les Boyer and Mediterraneo. Roger Charlton's sole entry for the Derby beat Bluegrass Prince on his only outing as a juvenile, a performance which has increased in stature in the light of his victim's success in the Free Handicap last week. Fragrant Belle, an Oaks entry and winner over today's course and distance, could prove the main danger.
3.05: Absolute Magic is the form horse, but has yet to prove he stays a mile and the luckless SHINTILLO may have too much class, judged on placings gained in huge fields at Newmarket last October. Today's rivals are fewer in number and either not good enough or unfavoured by the yielding ground.
3.40: The international classifications and the result of last week's Earl of Sefton Stakes suggest that there may be little to choose between most of these. EMPEROR JONES has won first time out in both his previous campaigns and can return to his best. Alflora, sixth in Dr Devious's Derby, will relish the underfoot conditions.
4.10: PARADISE NAVY was thought good enough to accompany his then stable companion Alflora to Epsom in June 1992, but has been lightly raced since until his good staying performances this spring, and may still be ahead of the handicapper. Wings Cove proved a useful juvenile hurdler this winter and could return as an improved horse on the Flat.
