BRIDGE OF FIRE: Drifted from 8-1 to 12-1 in the betting for a Ripon maiden on Monday, and was not knocked about on his debut. However, this gelding could well have won had his rider been able to find room to challenge a furlong out. After that, the gelding was not persevered with and finished fourth, only two lengths behind the winner, Far Fetched. (J W Watts)
CASTLEREA LAD: who was rested during June and July, looks ready to return to form. Made late ground, without being given a hard time, when a close-up seventh of 14 in the six-furlong race won by Lady Silk at Newmarket on Friday. (R Hollinshead)
