Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

See More Business, the winner of the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day, is to reappear in the Pillar Chase at Cheltenham on Saturday.

"We're gearing up for the Festival," the gelding's trainer, Paul Nicholls, said yesterday. "I want to get a run into him round Cheltenham so he can have a look at the course. I just hope the ground doesn't dry up as it is a very dry forecast."

Challenger Du Luc, who was second to See More Business on Boxing Day, also figures among the entries for Saturday's race, as does Rough Quest who was 10 lengths back in third in the King George and reported in "good form" by his trainer, Terry Casey.

Barton Bank, beaten a head by One Man in last year's Pillar Chase but a well beaten sixth behind See More Business last time, is also set to go to post as is Addington Boy, a late withdrawal from last season's Gold Cup due to a leg injury and off the course since.

Large Action and Pridwell, first and second in the 1997 Cleeve Hurdle, head the list for this year's race on Saturday for which 12 horses were entered today. Large Action was pulled up in the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot last month.

"I am very happy with Large Action. His last run is best forgotten because it came too soon after the Bula Hurdle," Oliver Sherwood, his trainer, said.

However, Pridwell is not certain to be in the line-up as the Martin Pipe- trained gelding's blood has been wrong and he was forced to miss an intended engagement at Haydock on Saturday.
