Racing: Challenge in control
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The gelding, a 12-1 shot, took command approaching the second last flight and went on to defeat the favourite, Scobie Boy, by three-and-a-half lengths, with Surrey Dancer six lengths away third. Scobie Boy did not have the best of runs but this did not affect the result. A further 10 lengths back in fourth was the highly- regarded Arctic Kinsman.
'It took this horse a little time to learn the job of jumping and we brought him here to find out exactly how good he is,' Tim Easterby, the trainer's son, said.
'We'd have to think about Cheltenham now but I have a feeling that Liverpool could well suit him better,' he said. 'He did his job really well here - that's the horse he is, although we just couldn't get him right during last Flat season.'
