Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

LINGFIELD

2.40: Oaks favourite Ramruna, representing the in-form Cecil-Fallon team, is bound to be a short price. Several of her rivals have plenty of potential, however, none more than FRIPPET, who finished like a rocket at Kempton when winning her debut and will really appreciate this step up in distance.

ooo

3.10: The Barry Hills-trained LAST REPUTATION has a plum draw and is fancied to make a winning start to her second season. Family Man, who ran so well in the Victoria Cup, may again have to settle for minor honours.

ooo

3.40: Daliapour, representing the trainer of last year's winner High- Rise, has been talked about for the Derby for some time and did nothing wrong on his reappearance. In contrast, the Derby seems to have been an afterthought for the Michael Stoute representative FANTASTIC LIGHT, but in winning the Classic Trial at Sandown last time he must be considered a leading candidate today.

ooo

4.10: Stall 18, an in-form trainer and a smooth win last time out all combine to make a compelling case for CUBISM. Sunley Sense and Pepperdine should be winning soon with a better draw.

ooo

4.45: Peter Makin's PRESUMED really caught the eye when making a winning debut at the expense of an odds-on favourite at Newbury three weeks ago and can take this on her way to more important prizes. Nell Gwyn failure Amazing Dream has a chance on her juvenile form, but not one so good as that of the long-absent Maghaarb.

BEVERLEY

4.30: High numbers have a big advantage over this stiff 5f when the going is riding good or faster and AJNAD, drawn 16 of 20, looks sure to go close. He showed his well-being when 21/4 lengths third to Tom Tun in a 21-runner 6f handicap at Doncaster on Bank Holiday Monday and this 5f should be ideal.

GOODWOOD

2.55: MONKSTON POINT, who ran a stormer from a terrible draw to finish third to Flanders in the Super Sprint at Newbury in July, can swoop late for victory in the hands of Olivier Peslier.

ooo

3.25: Mythical Girl is reported in great form after spending the winter in the Dubai sunshine. She's the form pick on her juvenile ability but GEORGETTE really got her act together at the backend and is well worth following.

ooo

3.55: DIKTAT is another Godolphin horse reported in top condition. The colt was very impressive when winning the Jersey Stakes for David Loder and the ground should be ideal for him after yesterday's showers.

ooo

4.25: Handsome Ridge is in great form after a gutsy win at Sandown but he had his favoured ground there. The rain yesterday will have helped, but LEAR SPEAR ran well in that same race at Esher on ground that was too testing for him. Today's surface has got to be faster, and he may well make up the six-length deficit.
