Racing: Bridgwater to share Bradstock's stable
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.THE FORMER National Hunt jockey David Bridgwater has confirmed that he is to start training. Bridgwater has taken a six-month lease on part of Tim Forster's former stables near Wantage. He will share the yard with Mark Bradstock, who moved in four years ago.
"I've got 16 boxes and I hope they will be full within the next couple of months," Bridgwater said. "I've spoken to a lot of people who have promised to support me - it's just a case of getting bums on seats now, or rather horses in boxes.
"It was tough having to give up riding in February [due to a bad elbow injury], but I don't cry for long. Racing's all I know and I always knew I'd train one day.
"It's a fantastic location - Captain Forster sent out three National winners and over 1,000 other winners from here."
The champion jumpers Sea Pigeon (1980 & 1981 Champion Hurdle), Burrough Hill Lad (1984 Cheltenham Gold Cup), and Sibton Abbey (1992 Hennessy Gold Cup) will parade before racing at Market Rasen on Sunday.
