Racing: Bookmakers cheered as Prescott colt flops
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The spoils went to Clever Girl, under a good ride from Lindsay Charnock who is in top form and completed a double when bringing Whizz Kid with a well-timed run to take the Tote Scoop6 Stakes.
Clever Girl is trained by Tim Easterby for Oxfordshire businessman Peter Bourke, who explained: "We bought her for 5,000 guineas and in Peter's [Tim's father] words, he said `I think you have stolen her'."
Whizz Kid is trained by Milton Bradley who also saddled ninth-placed Eastern Trumpeter. He is having a good run of success at present and said: "It is seven hours on the road from Chepstow to here so when we come so far we want to come with two chances rather than one"
Apprentice jockey Neil Pollard stole the show at Folkestone yesterday by completing a 293-1 treble on his only three rides at the track.
He started the ball rolling with the newcomer Magical Millie (5-2). Next, 20-1 chance Clonoe stuck like glue to the stands rail while his opponents made for the far side of the track. Super Dollar completed the trio when landing the final event at 3-1.
