From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Oxford retained the Varsity Bowl with another emphatic victory over Cambridge at Reading yesterday. Before the season's largest crowd, they took their sequence of successes to six since this annual game transferred from Lord's to Reading's Astro.
Oxford opened the scoring at their first penalty corner in the 11th minute, with the final touch provided by their captain, Toby Griffiths. Surprisingly,Cambridge were on terms eight minutes later. Ian Bateman, collecting a shrewd pass in midfield from Mike Meredith, who was winning his fourth blue, weaved past five Oxford players before shooting past David Jefferson.
However, Oxford then opened a commanding 3-1 interval lead. The New Zealander Ken Robinson took advantage of perfect stopping by Ben Raumann, who comes on only for set-pieces, to convert two penalty corners.
Cambridge's best spell, just after the interval, was summarily halted in the 47th minute when Jon Press sent away Richard MacDowel. Oxford's man of the match, to provide the pass for Ben Cope to score Oxford's fourth. Cambridge's best player was their captain, Colin Carter, one of three former Royal Grammar School High Wycombe players in the side.
