Your support makes all the difference. An elderly female spectator at the 2014 Winter Olympics brought a whole new meaning to the term ‘backside 180’ when a picture emerged of her taking a photograph of her own eyeball in an accidental selfie.
Attending the Bolshoy Ice Dome for Russia’s ice hockey clash with Slovenia, television coverage spotted the woman taking a picture with her point-and-shoot digital camera.
However, it seems that the woman was caught up in-between old and new as she held the camera up to her eye, much like the cameras of yesterday. Not only that, she clearly had it around the wrong way as she took a close-up snap of her own eyeball, in what has quickly become the best Sochi selfie of the Games so far.
American Twitter user Bryan Wood originally spotted the picture, and he accompanied it with the message: “A woman attempting to take a picture at a hockey game in Sochi today. This may be one of my favorite pics ever.”
Instead of ridiculing her for the error though, Wood defended the confused fan, saying: “I actually think it’s cute. I will get old & do those things. I will laugh at myself 'cuz I have a sense of humor.”
The picture rapidly went viral, receiving over 32,000 retweets since Wood originally posted it.
