South Korea sailing coach Lee Jae-cheol has been sent home from London 2012 after being caught drink driving.

The 38-year-old was pulled over on Wednesday at around 5am after his vehicle was seen veering towards the central reservation without its headlights on.

Lee was found to be more than twice the legal alcohol limit and was handed a £340 fine by magistrates in Weymouth, who also imposed an 18-month UK driving ban.

The South Korea Sailing Federation (KSAF) posted a statement on their official website, http://www.ksaf.org, apologising for the incident.

A team official told the Olympic News Service: "A coach has been fined for drinking and driving.

"It was a reprehensible act that had an adverse effect on the honor and morale of the national team."
