What time will it be on?
The race will start at approximately 2.35am Friday 20 August BST (10.35pm local time in Rio).
Where can I watch it live?
BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Four, the BBC red button and the BBC Sport website will have live coverage of all events at Rio 2016.
Who are the contenders?
By the time the 4x100m takes place, one of three things will have happened: Usain Bolt will be preparing for the last piece of his ‘treble treble’, or he will be seeking redemption having finally been knocked of his perch by a rival in the individual events.
Although unlikely, the third option is that for some reason Bolt and Jamaica will have failed to reach the final. Regardless, this is expected to be Bolt’s last Olympic outing and is definitely worth watching.
Remember when…
The last time British men won the event was at Athens in 2004. In recent years they have struggled against the competition of the Jamaican team.
