Your support makes all the difference. She may have bagged silver in the women’s road race yesterday, but cyclist Lizzie Armitstead’s prospects of going one better in tomorrow’s individual time trial look bleak after she lost her lucky sunglasses.
In the last hour, a message was posted on the official Surrey Police Twitter feed saying: “Lost: 1 pair lucky Oakley Sunglasses. Owner: @L_ArmiTstead. If found, pls hand them in. She'd like them back for the #TimeTrial on Weds...”
Armitstead lost the glasses while racing, removing them so as to see better in the heavy downpours. “I couldn't see and had to take my glasses off and lost my lucky glasses but never mind,” she said.
But the 23-year-old from West Yorkshire doesn’t seem too bothered. It appears she’s found a substitute: lucky chocolate milk.
She tweeted: “Nice cafe ride with a Nutella milkshake, people who know me, know that's my formula! 'skinny' drinks never do anyone any good!”
