The UK Border Agency could be hit by a strike during the Olympics after Home Office workers voted to go on strike yesterday, raising further concerns about the ability of the country to handle the influx from the Games.

The Public and Commercial Services union announced that of 57 per cent of members who voted had backed strike action in a protest against job and pay cuts.

Leaders will decide today what form the action will take, with the Immigration minister, Damian Green, saying the threat to Heathrow on the eve of the Olympics was "completely unacceptable".
