Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Football Association chiefs have warned fans hoping to see Team GB in action ahead of the Olympic Games against buying tickets from unauthorised websites.
Some supporters have reported a United States-based website offering tickets for the double-header at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium on Friday, July 20 at hugely inflated prices.
An FA spokesman said: "The FA takes any form of unauthorised or illegal ticket sales very seriously, and would strongly recommend to all supporters only to buy through official channels.
"As the only warm-up match for both men's and women's Great Britain football squads prior to the Olympics, this is the last chance for fans to see the teams live and we don't want anyone to be disappointed."
Hope Powell's women's side face Sweden in a tough test of their credentials at 4pm before the men, led by Stuart Pearce and captained by Ryan Giggs, take on Brazil.
