Bobby Langton, the former Blackburn Rovers and England winger who made 11 appearances for his country during the 1940s, has died aged 77.

The Blackburn pair, Colin Hendry and Paul Warhurst, plus Rangers' Paul Gascoigne, were yesterday suspended from European club competition for two matches.

Dunfermline's request to have tonight's Scottish First Division match at Morton postponed has been granted. The funeral of the Dunfermline captain, Norrie McCathie, who died last week, takes place today and the club felt their players would not be in the correct frame of mind. The rearranged date is Tuesday 13 February.

Davor Suker, the Croatian international striker, yesterday signed for Real Madrid in a deal which sees Seville receive pounds 3.3m plus the transfer or loan of five Real Madrid players.

Lee Martin, the former Manchester United full-back, has been given a free transfer by Celtic.
