From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Both the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks come into the Super Bowl banged up, but neither team is expected to be without any players, based on the latest injury reports.

The vaunted Seahawk’s secondary, known around the NFL as the Legion of Boom, is hurt, with three of the four members fighting through injuries. Star cornerback Richard Sherman hurt his elbow two weeks ago against the Green Bay Packers, but he is expected to be a full participant in the Super Bowl.

Safety Earl Thomas, shoulder, will participate fully and safety Kam Chancellor, knee, is expected to be limited.

Other Seahawks injuries: guard JR Sweezy, ankle (full participation); tackle Justin Britt, knee (full participation); and running back Marshawn Lynch, back (full participation)

The middle of the Patriots defence is struggling as both linebackers Akeem Ayers, knee, and Don’t’a Hightower, shoulder, are limited. Quarterback Tom Brady, ankle, is on the injury report, but he will participate fully.

Other Patriots injuries: centre Bryan Stork, knee (limited participation); defensive tackle Chris Jones, elbow (limited participation); defensive line Sealver Siliga, foot (limited participation).
