Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Q. In a run of 22 games to the end of November that I have watched my team, Grimsby Town, play, I have only seen one win. Even that single victory was on the day we were relegated to the Second Division. These trips have resulted in travelling 3,500 miles over a season and a half. Can anybody match this dismal record?

A. After watching Plymouth Argyle beat West Bromwich Albion (where they always win!) 2-1 on 13 March 1991, I saw 18 games away without a win, the last 11 without scoring until a goal scored at Port Vale (where they always lose) in a 2-1 defeat on 18 February 1994.

In the next game on 15 March Argyle beat Rotherham 3-0 to go top of the table. It was my 200th away game since the 1950-51 season with only 38 wins.

Q. Are there any European football equivalents to Oldham Athletic's new terrace song "Meat Pie, Sausage Roll" and, if so, what food is featured? I ask this because a French colleague once told me about an early 1980s Paris St-Germain chant featuring "Croissants et Boissants"?

Adrian Brodkin, London N2

Q. Who do rugby league fans watch in the winter since the advent of Super League and summer rugby? Is that one reason why support for Halifax Town FC has increased sharply?

Tim Mickleburgh, Grimsby

Q. How would I set about becoming a professional lugist? Is there a British luge team, and are there any facilities for pursuing the sport in this country?

Miss K Brown, London W10
