In glorious sunshine, the 31- year-old Ulsterman fought a magnificent duel with his younger brother Robert during the 150-mile race which he eventually won by 13 seconds.
Dunlop beat the previous record of 14 TT wins, which he shared with Mike Hailwood, 16 years after his first Isle of Man victory. 'I was more nervous towards the end of the race than last year when I equalled Mike Hailwood's record,' Dunlop, who broke the 125cc race record on his Honda, said. 'I really enjoyed this one but I thought that last lap was never going to end. It takes all the pressure away from me and now I can enjoy my racing to the full.'
Jim Moodie, a 30-year-old Scot, secured his first TT victory with a record-breaking ride in the four-lap Supersport 400cc race. The Yamaha rider dominated the event throughout and won with a minute to spare over his compatriot Iain Duffus, also riding a Yamaha.
In the three-lap sidecar race, the local crew of Dave Molyneux and Karl Ellison repeated last Saturday's success with a comfortable win on their Yamaha.
