Frenchman Sebastien Ogier secured his first world title on the first day of the Rally of France when his only rival, Thierry Neuville, failed to clinch the stage win he needed.
"It has been an ideal season for all this [Volkswagen] team. Last year, we started from scratch and now, for our first season, we're world champion," said Ogier.
