Your support makes all the difference.Switzerland's Alain Menu took race two to deny a BMW double at the World Touring Car Championship meeting at Brands Hatch yesterday.
The Chevrolet driver, who started the second race on pole, was passed by the BMW of Felix Porteiro at the start as the Spaniard grabbed the lead from the second row, but fought back to take the lead on the first corner of lap seven.
Menu recorded his second victory of the season in a time of 30min 5.069sec, with Porteiro second and another BMW driver, Alessandro Zanardi, in third.
The second race was increased by two laps to 16 as the safety car was deployed after Jordi Gene's SEAT was sent spinning off the track. Menu said: "Felix had a good start but after the safety car I had a good run into Paddock [Hill Bend, the first corner] on the inside and from then on it was a matter of not making any mistakes."
The victory lifts Menu up to eighth in the championship table.
BMW's Jörg Müller earlier snatched victory in race one, after the leader Robert Huff, of Britain, suffered a flat tyre just two laps from the finish. The German followed up his first win of the season with fourth place in race two to move up to fifth in the table. Huff finished 21st and 10th in races one and two respectively, with his fellow Briton, Honda's James Thompson, coming home in 10th and 14th.
