Team Lotus have confirmed that Kimi Raikkonen is destined for a move to Ferrari for the 2014 season - tweeting the news in a somewhat unorthodox way.
Speculation has surrounded the future of the Finnish driver for some time and with current Ferrari driver Felipe Massa announcing last night this he is leaving the Prancing Horse, the announcement of Raikkonen as his replacement is imminent.
That has become even more clear after Lotus tweeted as such - but much will be made of the manner of the revelation.
From the account Lotus_F1Team emerged the tweet: "So #Kimi is off to #Ferrari for 2014; it hurts a little bit… #F1 #Raikkonen" which was accompanied by a picture (above) of two rabbits copulating in a forceful manner.
When the Ferrari rumours first surfaced a return appeared unlikely given Raikkonen's seemingly ignominious exit at the end of 2009 as the team paid off the final year of his contract to sign Fernando Alonso.
The 33-year-old will partner Alonso in what could prove to be a difficult pair of drivers to manage.
