Lap 14: Verstappen pits from eighth to put on the super soft tyres, and it could trigger a number of the leading drivers to pit to avoid suffering the undercut. Verstappen comes out behind the Manor of Ocon, but needs just four corners to pass him and move up to 14th,
Lap 15: Alonso pits with Roon Dennis out in the pit lane keeping a close eye on proceedings. The Spaniard comes out behind Wehrlein but ahead of Verstappen, and he immediately looks to attack the Manor and passes him rapidly.
Lap 16: Both Ricciardo and Hamilton pit to avoid the undercut, and both drivers are sent out on their way in the same order as they arrived.
Lap 56: Five laps to go and the lead is cut to just 5.7 seconds! Ricciardo is giving it all guns in an effort to win his first race of the season.
Nico Rosberg:
Daniel tried to pull one on me with the late pit stop and we knew it would be close but I had enough. We couldn’t come in because I had traffic so I was slow. The car was on the edge, it always is in Singapore.
I’m just happy with the win today.
Daniel Ricciardo:
We’ve come very close this year on numerous occasions but I’m not going to be up here disappointed. We came really close. As soon as we did the pit stop we thought Nico was going to come in so I pushed really hard but at least we made it exciting.
Lewis Hamilton:
Big congratulations to Nico, he drove superbly across the whole weekend and deserves the win. It was a difficult weekend in Singapore as it always is but I’m happy to get points for the team. It’s a little different to how it was here last year but with the ay the season’s gone, I’m still in it.
