The Australian said he wants to race at his home grand prix on 28 October before retiring in November. "Being at Phillip Island is definitely my goal at the moment," he said.
But the Honda rider, third behind Spaniards Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) and Dani Pedrosa (Honda) in the title standings, also ruled out racing next year to try to end his career on a high. "I'm not racing next year," he said.
