Your support makes all the difference.Tuesday’s running at the Isle of Man TT has been postponed due to poor weather conditions around the island, with organisers taking the early decision to reschedule the RL360 Superstock race.
Monday saw racing finally get underway at the TT after a 48-hour delay due to last week’s atrocious conditions, which resulted in riders seeing eight of 10 planned qualifying sessions being cancelled and Sunday being designated as an extra qualifying day.
The opening day did not go without change though as the evening’s Monster Energy Superstock Race One had to be halted at the halfway stage as rain closed in on the west of the island, resulting in Lee Johnston claiming his first TT victory as they field headed for the pits for what should have been the midway pit-stop.
Fears that Tuesday’s forecast would scupper any running at all have been materialised early after an update was issued at 9:30am, confirming that there will be no running at all at the TT and that the roads will remain open to the public all day.
Clerk of the course Gary Thompson said: “Today’s schedule cancelled due to poor weather. Low cloud/fog mist and rain for most of the day, sometimes heavy, sometimes light.
“No chance for roads to dry. Helicopter operations severely disrupted/not possible.”
While the TT does not run in the rain due to the dangers that the track poses, racing will also not go ahead if the medical helicopters cannot get to the top of the mountain course.
Thompson also confirmed that a revised schedule for Wednesday will be issued by 1pm on Tuesday afternoon.
The RL360 Superstock TT was the only race scheduled for Tuesday, alongside qualifying for the sidecars, lightweight bikes and TT Zero machines, and organisers do have a free day on Thursday to reschedule racing. On top of the superstock race, organisers plan on running the second supersport race, TT Zero and lightweight events, plus Friday’s scheduled second sidecar race and the week-ending Senior TT.
