The double world champion, 39, underwent surgery following a collision with a car at a supermarket last week in Switzerland.
But Alonso is expected to be fit for the opening race of his Formula One comeback in Bahrain next month.
His Alpine team released a short statement, saying: “After a period of 48 hours observation in Switzerland, Fernando Alonso has now been discharged to continue his recovery at home.
“He will now have a short period of complete rest before progressively resuming training to undertake preparation for the start of the new season.”
Alonso is due to return to the F1 grid this season following a two-year absence.
