Your support makes all the difference.The FIM Speedway Grand Prix series heads to Poland on Saturday for the final round of the 2009 World Championship. Series leader Jason Crump, who all season long has looked to be heading for his third world championship trophy, still has some work to do to ensure that he completes his hat-trick of titles.
A horrific crash whilst riding for Belle Vue, saw Crump undergo a 4-hour operation with skin grafts to repair the arm. Daily treatment, he has seen a big improvement in his recovery and feels he is ready to get back on the track again.
Crumps discomfort was so great at the previous round that he was unable to lift his arm high enough to put on his own crash helmet. He still managed to go out and score four crucial points.
The injury has given hope to Polish veteran Tomasz Gollob, and also to the teenage Russian, Emil Sayfutdinov. The sell out Polish crowd in Bydgoszcz will be solidly behind Gollob, a man that many people have dubbed the best rider never to win a World Championship.
Crump needs to collect eight points to be sure of clinching the title. "This injury has really thrown the cat amongst the pigeons." said Crump, who still holds a 17-point lead over Gollob, with Emil a single point behind. "I had a good lead for most of the season and was hoping to wrap the championship up by the second last round, but this injury has changed everything."
"The World Championship will be decided this weekend and I will be doing all I possibly can to win the title. I will be focusing and preparing myself for Saturday night. My bikes are ready, the team is ready and this will be my last stand. Whatever the outcome, I know I will have given it my best shot."
