Glenn Magnusson became the first Swede to win a stage in the Tour of Italy for 25 years yesterday. Magnusson, called into the race at only three days' notice, won the 143.5 miles (231km) second stage from Elefsia to Nafpaktos by a bike length from Stefano Zanini, whose fellow Italian, Silvio Martinello, kept the overall lead.
