Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Greg Rusedski's selection for Britain's Davis Cup squad will not be allowed to destroy team spirit, according to David Lloyd, the new captain.
Lloyd will seek assurances of the 21-year-old's commitment to Britain before confirming his place for the Euro-African zone Group Two relegation play-off against Monaco in July.
"Greg is now the best player we have available but no one is bigger than the team," Lloyd said. "I hope he's willing to do more for British tennis than just playing Davis Cup.
"If he wants to be part and parcel of the whole British tennis scene, including coaching clinics and the rest, that's fine. But whatever happens we must make sure the team spirit is there."
The Montreal-born left-hander's clearance to play for Britain by the International Tennis Federation has given Lloyd a boost for his first match in charge after five successive Davis Cup defeats.
However, Rusedski's clearance has been fiercely criticised by the former British No 1, Chris Wilkinson, who has vowed never to represent his country again.
