Ice Hockey: Wasps in seventh heaven
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Durham Wasps had lost seven games in a row, their worst League record, but rallied against Peterborough Pirates with six goals in the final period. The 11-5 win was not enough, however, to see last season's League and championship winners into a position where they could reach Wembley again next month. Instead, they must merely try to retain their Premier position.
Fyfe Fliers had also gone seven without a win. Thanks to John McCrone in goal, they kept Nottingham Panthers at bay, winning 4-2. Humberside Seahawks also ended a seven-game losing streak by defeating Bracknell Bees 10-2.
There was no luck involved, however, as Peterborough Pirates beat Murrayfield Racers 11-5 with seven power-play goals. Racers did not do themselves any favours with both Tony Hand and Mike Ware sent off. Ware had only just returned from suspension.
