Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.SCOTT ALLISON yesterday ended his unhappy stay in Germany by completing his return to the Sheffield Steelers.
The left-winger failed to settle with Augsburg Panthers following his summer move from the Superleague side. He was ejected from his first four matches and had become disillusioned with life in Germany.
Allison makes his return tonight in a Yorkshire Cup tie at the British National League team Hull Thunder.
The Steelers' team manager, Dave Simms, said: "We are delighted to have him back and our patience has paid off. Scott brings tenacity and bite to the side, which is something we always need."
Allison's first reappearance in the Superleague will be at home to their fierce rivals the Nottingham Panthers at Sheffield Arena on Boxing Day.
London Knights can stretch their league lead over Sheffield to six points with a win over Ayr Scottish Eagles at the Docklands Arena tonight.
The teams meet for the third time in 10 days with both having one win apiece - on opposite rinks - and the Knights will be encouraged by their 3-1 win at Ayr on Sunday. It was a second straight defeat for Ayr in just over 24 hours - they lost 6-3 to Nottingham Panthers on Saturday.
