2.35: This track could be tailor-made for KADASTROF, who proved a tough, soft-ground competitor over hurdles during the winter. The going will not be as testing as his connections would like, but this relentless galloper will stretch the stamina of most of these rivals.
Father Hayes, from the senior tour, has been beating young opposition on Southwell's all-weather track but may struggle to repeat that form on turf. Retender, despite a 4lb penalty for a Newcastle victory, looks the danger.
3.05: Innishowen and Run Softly have the considerable advantage of a previous run this year, and Pat Eddery can be counted upon to give Barry Hills' charge a forceful ride. Derby entry WEIGH ANCHOR could well be classiest competitor in this event, though. He is highly regarded in a stable with a high strike-rate with horses making their seasonal debut.
3.40: Michael Stoute's stable opened its account for the new turf season yesterday, and GREEN GREEN DESERT can step up the momentum here. This
colt did not apparently beat much of note when winning his only race as a two-year-old. But it was the way he quickened clear on this track, after being held up by a supremely confident Walter Swinburn, that gave this horse the stamp of a true Classic contender.
4.10: Handicap sprints on this course are notoriously tricky for punters, but this looks particularly hazardous. INDIAN DREAMER is one of four to have won last time out but Michael Bell's runner, who ran on well when successful at Catterick, has a low weight which Willie Carson can make the most of. Michael Roberts brought Cavers Yangous with a late run to win on soft going at Leicester and this Northern challenger looks dangerous.
