Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Scully was again on target in their final game of the day, scoring the opening two goals in their 4-0 victory against North-East. Charlie Holmes and James McBane completed the exercise to keep the pressure on the East, who are in pole position in the Under-18 competition.
Earlier in the day James Taylor had scored in East's 1-0 win against a strong West side and was also prominent in their 2-0 win against South-West. Both goals came from penalty corners - the first fine strike from Richard Stamp and the second from Simon Moffat.
The annual South-East v South- West battle was not a game for the faint-hearted. With at least half the players in each side having PizzaExpress National League experience, it would have been reasonable to expect a classic encounter. It was not to be. Much individual play and a lot of niggle led to a solitary goal from Brett Garrard for South-West in the 10th minute.
